There is nothing quite as spectacular as a reunion of venerable performers, until you throw them back into a universe. The Everything Everywhere All At Once actors Michelle Yeoh and Ke Huy Quan are back in action in the first official teaser for Disney+’s new series American Born Chinese, where they battle the darkest forces of both this world and the one beyond it. Ben Wang of Chang Can Dunk and Jimmy Liu, a Taekwondo champion, play two teenage boys entrusted with rescuing the world in the movie, which also stars adult actors with major star power.

‘American Born Chinese’ Features Michelle and Ke Huy Quan
In the trailer, we meet Jin Wang (Wang), a Chinese American youngster who strives to appreciate his history while blending in with his fellow high school students. Jin believes that his social life has taken a serious hit after being assigned to teach a new Chinese student (Liu) the ropes. Jin embarks on the journey of a lifetime, travelling through several worlds and facing mythical Chinese gods, until the student discloses that he is a being from beyond this world who has been sent on a mission to rescue life as we know it.

American Born Chinese has found the ideal place amid other coming-of-age stories like. The Crossover and Mila and the Multiverse. It will blend in beautifully with Disney+’s constantly expanding library of youth-oriented programming. Of course, there is also much here for adults who enjoy fantasy. There isn’t a person on the planet who can’t identify to the uncomfortable and angst-filled teen years of yearning to fit in, as shown in Gene Luen Yang’s comic novel of the same name. This novel completely upends everything with its massive action sequences and wonderfully executed Kung-Fu.
