High-Tech Conspiracy Teased in ‘Class of ’09’ Trailer

The latest trailer for FX’s forthcoming techno-thriller miniseries Class of ’09 has been released. Brian Tyree Henry and Kate Mara will also appear in the multidecade series. The eight-episode series, which will debut on May 10, centres on Tayo Miller (Henry) and Amy Poet (Mara), who play the two leads. It begins with their recruitment into the FBI from the nursing field and the insurance industry, respectively, and continues with their time at the FBI Academy in Quantico (as members of the titular class of ’09, in scenes reminiscent of Silence of the Lambs).

The video travels into the future and describes Miller and Poet’s involvement in a nefarious high-tech plot, complete with dramatic raids, vehicle chases and gunfights, while the soundtrack becomes more dissonant. The trailer depicts ominous monitor screens and sinisterly lit server banks as Miller and Poet deal with an ever-present threat that threatens the very foundations of justice as the show deals with the rise of artificial intelligence and the nature of humanity in an increasingly AI-dominated environment.

Conspiracy Teased in ‘Class of ’09’

Class of ’09, which was originally approved back in 2021, spans three decades, including the foreseeable future when the American court system heavily relies on artificial intelligence. After one of their classmates passed away, the story follows Miller and Poet as they rejoin; their research into the unsolved tragedy leads them into a dystopian conspiracy. The series explores the essence of justice, humanity, and the decisions we make that ultimately shape our lives and our legacy, according to its official synopsis. Along with them, it will include Rosalind Eleazar from Slow Horses, Brian J. Smith from Sense8, Jon Jon Briones from Ratched, Brooke Smith from Grey’s Anatomy, Jake McDorman from Dopesick, and Sepideh Moafi from The L Word: Generation Q as Hour.

Tom Rob Smith, who previously worked on The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story, conceived and served as executive producer of Class of ’09. Additional executive producers include Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Zanne Devine, Jessica Levin, and Joe Robert Cole. The producer is Nellie Reed (Y: The Last Man).

Where can you watch Class of ’09’?

Starting on May 10, 2023, the FX drama series Class of ’09 will be streamable on Hulu. All eight of the roughly 60-minute long episodes of the show are available to Hulu users. The first two episodes will be accessible on the day of launch, and subsequent episodes will be made available on Wednesdays once a week. Anyone who wants to watch this drama series can do so without difficulty by becoming a Hulu subscriber.
