After a six-year break, Happy Valley season three was renewed in October 2021. The season, which started production in 2022, will consist of six episodes and feature Cawood reconciling with her foe Tommy Lee (James Norton), who is currently serving a jail sentence. Sally Wainwright (Gentleman Jack), the show’s creator, has previously hinted that the season will follow the Sergeant as she unearths the remains of a gangland murder victim.
The events that Cawood’s discovery of the bones will have prompted will likewise be followed in the final season.
