Izzy Meikle-Small and Joey Phillips (Billy Elliot), and Charles Vandervaart have joined the cast of STARZ’s popular series Outlander for the forthcoming seventh season. The season seven filming started in Scotland in April, and Meikle-Small and Phillips will play Rachel Hunter’s brother and sister, respectively, and Dr. Denzell Hunter.

The best-selling book series by American author Diana Gabaldon was adapted into the movie Outlander. Fans of Diana Gabaldon’s historical fantasy books would also be familiar with the two new Quaker characters, Rachel and Denzell, whose lives have changed since Young Ian (John Bell) and William Ransom (Vandervaart), who is unwell and injured, arrived at their property. Rachel, the youngest sibling, has a fiery temperament that William and Young Ian both like. On the other side, Dr. Denzell, a surgeon with training in both Boston and London, is getting ready to enlist in the Revolutionary Army.
The showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the series, Matthew B. Roberts, said of the addition of Meikle-Small and Phillips: “[We] can’t wait for fans to see how these two fantastic actors bring Rachel and Denzell to life.”

Meikle-Small has acted in a number of films, but she is most recognised for her 2010 performance in Never Let Me Go. She additionally had an appearance in the 2011 BBC miniseries Great Expectations. While Phillips has appeared in the stage productions of A Christmas Carol, Breaking The Code, Richard III, Romeo and Juliet, Stud, Who Cares, A View From The Bridge, Of Gods & Monsters, and Billy Elliott, the actress has also ventured into producing her own short films, such as Not a Mourning Person.

Along with the new cast members, Bell, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, Caitriona Balfe, and Richard Rankin will all be back as fan favourites. Roberts, Ronald D. Moore, Maril Davis, Toni Graphia, Luke Schelhaas, Andy Harries, and Jim Kohlberg are also executive producers. Tall Ship Productions, Left Bank Pictures, and Story Mining & Supply Company are making Outlander in association with Sony Pictures Television.
